Мотострелковый Полк (рота/взвод/отделение)
The battalion command group consists of commander, deputy commander, deputy for personnel work, deputy for armaments, deputy for rear services, and commander's assistant for artillery; all are mounted in one BMP or BTR.
The staff consists of chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, chief of signals (normally also signal platoon leader), instructor and clerk; all are mounted in one BMP or BTR.
The anti-tank platoon occurs only in BMP-equipped MR battalions in brigades. It has three BMPs and six AT-4s.
The grenade launcher platoon does not occur in BMP-equipped MR battalions in brigades. It has six AGS-17s.
The signal and support platoons do not occur in BMP-equipped MR battalions in brigades.
A control platoon and the materiel support and technical services platoon occur only in BMP-equipped MR battalions in brigades.
The reconnaissance section has one BRM-1K.
The air defence platoon and reconnaissance platoon are present only in some battalions.
The company headquarters section consists of a commander, deputy commander for personnel work, starshina (NCO), senior mechanic, instructor-medic, vehicle crews (three men for BMP, two men for BTR), and battlefield surveillance radar operator; all are mounted in two BMPs or one BTR.
The anti-tank section (BTR-equipped only) has nine men, three AT-7s, and one BTR.
The grenade launcher platoon (BMP-equipped in brigades only) has 26 men, three BMPs, and six AGS-17s.
The platoon headquarters section consists of platoon leader, assistant platoon leader, sniper, machine gunner (RPK in BMP battalion in brigades, PKM otherwise), machine-gun loader (PKM only), rifleman-medic. BMP battalions in regiments have only a leader, assistant and medic.
BTR-equipped platoons have two nine-man and one eight-man sections.
Defensive frontages: Battalion 3 to 4.5 km; Company 1.5 km; Platoon 0.4 km; Squad 0.1 km.
