Я тут, похоже, немного обмишурился с переводом, watches наверно не наблюдатели, а вахта. Короче, 6 дивизионов- по три вахты на каждый борт.
As well, on all large ships, men were divided into two watches; Port and Starboard. This was indicated by red braid sewn on both the white and blue jumper, and on the work jumper. They were as follows:
Starboard watch (worn on the right arm)
1st division: one stripe
3rd division: two stripes
5th division: three stripes
Port watch (worn on the left arm)
2nd Division: one stripe
4th Division: two stripes
6th Division: three stripes
