Приветствую!
The German Army issue lightweight camouflage smock, shown here being worn by the soldier kneeling
and adjusting blankets on a crude sledge. The same type of smock worn with the white side outermost is worn by the soldier on the left of the photo. The unnamed Major, a Knight's Cross holder, in the centre of the photo is the commander of a Jager battalion. He is holding a 'Wolchowstock', a wooden stick intricately carved with designs appropriate to the owner's formation. The sticks were a form of souvenir much favoured by German troops serving on the Eastern Front. He is a/so wearing the specie/ felt and leather boots provided for wear in cold climates.
